I had already written this, fully expecting only dreary and/or boring things to happen after. However, due to a slight server hiccup, I lost the entry when saving it. A few interesting things did happen between then and writing this now, though I probably won't disclose these until much later. Suffice to say, I have a hilarious, heartwarming story you'll want to read waiting to be published sometime in the future.
Now that I've gotten that out of the way, down to the nitty gritty.
I like coffee. Bitter, sweet, the fragrance, it's all good. That's why I'm pleased that this weekend is the New Orleans Coffee Festival. For $7 you can sample 4 of the greatest brews from the local coffeehouses. That is something I am most definitely not missing. I wish they picked earlier than than noon, though I can understand how most of us wouldn't wake before then on a saturday.
My French is cringe-worthy is mediocre, at best. I've re-started the French 101 course on Livemocha. I'm working my way up on the proper grammar, though it's essentially easy, and causes slightly less confusion than Italian. I hate Italian. I'm also re-starting the Mandarin Chinese 101 course, which I gave up on because it required too much time at a period where I didn't really feel it would benefit me. But now with that course, and Modern Mandarin Chinese for Beginners by Monika Mey, I hope to speak unintelligibly soon.
I like gadgets, toys and knick knacks. This is more of an extended project, as the total cost is somewhere around $3.000, but I intend to build a replica of the NASA Apollo Landing Computer. If anything, it will give me something concrete to focus on besides work stuff. Along those lines, I want to get into Arduino, maybe purchase a starter kit from Makershed. Another totally useless thing I want to get more into is this funky thing called Plan 9.
Now, I'm going to try and get as balanced a meal as possible, prepare some sports drinks, and restart P90X. Given that it's a 3 months system (as all complete body transformation systems should be, it's scientifically proven) I'll be sexy and fit by Christmastime, at which point I'm hoping to go visit family, family who pigs out and won't look as fit as me. Also I hope to see a few special peoples...
That's all for now. Either comment with glowing praise, or be on your way, stranger. ;)
