You may have heard of NIN's superawesome iPhone app from that small time blog called Wired. The possibilities for such an app have long been there, and I can't help but feel that NIN would do an even better service to the community at large by open sourcing such an app. The NIN iPhone app provides a mobile interface to the entire world of NIN.

I started fantasizing about how to possibly extend the reach of artists, and my mind immediately went to libre.fm. Libre.fm's tagline is "Artistic. Freedom", but the project seems to be more about user "freedom". I thought to myself "Last.fm pulls photos in from Flickr....so why not have a website+iPhone app like NIN does, and have that push data to libre.fm?". Then along comes Evan and mentions how it should have support for OpenMicroBlogging. This nascent standard could be the backbone necessary to make this dream of artistic and listener freedom come true! The fundamentals of OMB have been proven effective with identi.ca and the many other laconi.ca instances floating around in the web. Many in this case being an exaggeration to get my point across....But it is possible! Now to think of a way to summarize this so I can post it in the ideas wiki for libre.fm!
